Lolly-byes

I got good news at the doctor today (elbow's probably not broken).  I came home to a chilly morning and a warm kitty who wanted to nap.  Boris lay on my chest and I sang him a lullaby.  For those of you with young children or grandchildren or pets, I recommend the  following:cover yourself with one of those soft fleecy throws to protect yourself from fur, hair,or drool.  Position co-napper beside or on chest, choose a melody you actually know and just sing affirmming nonsense "Boris is a good, good boy" over and over, making sure to repeat the name often.  before you know it, a good nap will be had by all and your co-napper will get straight A's in school.

Giada brunch

Jan went to a nephew's graduation party in Toledo today so I took Giada to brunch in Santa Fe.  Afterwards we took a trail in the mountains so that she could continue to pretend that eating all that food doesn't cause any weight gain .  We also went to a sculpture garden where they cast bronze pieces right on site.  She loved them so i made an offer I sometimes do with Jan-pick one out, anyone you want!  Giada broke the rules, she took me up on it:$175,000.00.  Oh well, she left the tip at brunch.  And the ta-ta's are real.

Polar Party

Hi Bears,
In case some of you are confused by my previous  blogs and emails, the first book club/birthday meeting is Wed. the 28th at 1595 Raywood.  Mathies, we'll have some company this year at our yearend blowout.  I doubt if Bret shows up but that's okay, the grill is on the fritz so we'll be fixing our own sandwiches.  Come whenever you feel like it and stay until you're chilled.  Stay away from Renee's mobile home or you may end up in Daytona or Talledega.  The neighbor's a board member so please use our bathroom and not their yard.Bocce, cornhole, and basketball will be available outside.  Pool, pinball,Golden Tee, and Playstation inside.  Also TV for NBA fans. and a spa if you have a swimmy suit. Food, books, and mates welcome but not  required.  Pretend there's not another week of school. If you're from California or Florida, there isn't.

scary night

hi bears,
shortly after going to bed last night,  woke up with a strong pain and a tremor in my left hand.  It was flopping back and forth against my right arm but there was no feeling in either appendage.  Scared, I woke up Jan who got me an ambulance ride to the hospital.  I woke up with an IV in my arm, apparently the victim of another seizure.  two beautiful sights appeared, Jan in her bright blue sweater and brother Terry in a Notre Dame sweatshirt, both very reassuring.  Before long, I was off to home for more comfort from Jan and the kitties.  Coincidentally, I have read recently a neurology book bout the high historical incidence of creative talent among epileptics, autistics, and people with brain damage .  It theorizes that when the connections between the brain hemispheres is disturbed,it allows special talents to become exposed and concentrated on.  I know that I had a feeling of awakening when I suffered my stroke.  Concentration, spelling and grammar suffered, but  writing and social skills improved with the subsequent loss of inhibition. Now if I can only survive the physical part.

book progress and silly survey

hi bears,
First a report that the book club has reached 29 books.  I gave out a few certificates and beads today to good response.  More tomorrow.  I have a delusion that we can save the school district by reaching our 500 book goal by the and of the year, especially if we can spread it to the children. My survey concerns  silly advertisement.  Jan and I passed one of those air propelled waving figures on the way to Canton this morning(it looks like the apple throwing trees in the wizard of Oz.  A little further down 62 is a fake police car and occasionally a man in a gorilla suit or a man in a chicken suit.  My question is :" although we've all seen these attention getting gimmicks many times in many places, have any of you ever pulled in and bought something due to having seen them"?    If so, what?

we're endangered!

Hi Bears,
This is one of those bad news, worse news things.  It's a slight recognition that global warming is real and it's going to wipe us bears out in the next three generations (36 polar bear years).  But the real motive is preventing lawsuits against oil companies that will wipe out all life this century.  So what it comes down to is that the oil miners are not allowed to shoot the canary, just starve it.  Maybe we should start eating humans.  Eventually they would pass a law making it mandatoryfor us to use SUV's to chase them.

good day!

Hi Bears,
I did Movie Monday a day late or 6 days early( It seemed like 6 days of trailers. I woke up in time for the movie "What happens in Vegas"  It didn't have the greatest story line, but CAMERON DIAZ!! and for you ladies, Ashton Krutcher is similar to Leatherhead jim Kaminsky in his ah shucks cuteness.  The best line is the TV line Dick Banger! that will give us joke material all weekend and of course there's also the peeing in the sink scene when Jack can't get into the bathroom because CAMERON DIAZ!! is doing her hair. So, maybe should have gone to Iron man but no Cameron Diaz! in that one.   As far as the trailers, Anne Hathaway edged Uma Thurma. I also got a haircut along with the prequisite tip flirts and ate lunch with Jan at BW3's (cheated a little on the diet).  Went to Target and found out why Jackson does so much better on test scores than we do.  They make all their disruptive kids go to Target, or the movies, giving the other kids a chance to learn.  When I first started teaching(1904), Ron Peeling used to give Blake Kirksey a quarter everyday to buy an ice cream cone so Ron could teach the rest of the class. Now we give the good kids treats so the bad kids can act up.  I got me a guitar at Target (hopefully a midlife crisis: that would give me 60 more years).  Polar Bill

introduction to my blog

Hi Bears,
Since many of you have sent me emails in which it seems you want me to share information, links, and pictures with the rest of the club, I have decided to start a blog so that anyone can post comments and others can decide whether or not they wish to read your contributions and I don't have to make difficult decisions.

Be sure to bookmark this website and visit it often. Be sure to click on "Comments" and read what your fellow bears have to say. And be sure to add your own comments. Check for quizzes, links, pictures and other nonsense. I have plenty of time to fool around with this site. Could get controversial!
